Ireland is a very beautiful country. When I go to Europe which is often bathed in sunlight, I feel inspired to paint with bright colours, using oil pastels and bright, acrylic paints, but here in Ireland, I feel more inspired to use a more traditional style of painting and colours that reflect the climate in Ireland. It isn't called, 'The Emerald Isle' for nothing, and the heavy, cumulous clouds and rain makes Ireland feel dark and this reflects on the wintery colours I use in my works.
