- This is another variation of much the same scene I've already done with Oil pastels and soft, chalky pastels. Using black, oil-pastel paper, I used my lighter oil pastels to lift this scene up as if the lights of Venice are reflecting in the edge of the gondolas and on the dark waters. The contrast of the orange island in the background enhances my feeling of excitement about this picture of Venice at night.
